Meet the Team
Mindful Message Co. is staffed with a creative team that brings a wide range of experience, education, interests and passions to each project.

Founder & Principal; Lead Communications SpecialistMarika has nearly 20 years of professional experience communicating with folks to build trust and help them achieve their goals. Marika initially built her communications practice in the social service sector, where she learned first-hand that whether a message and its delivery are trauma-informed directly impacts the relationships we have and hope to build with an audience.
It was an experience participating in a national Sixties Scoop scoop campaign that ignited Marika’s passion for public relations and launched Marika’s formal communications career. Marika left the social services field in 2020 and the learning gained during those previous years formed the basis of Mindful Message Co.’s slogan: “Mind Your Message.”
Marika earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Windsor, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations from the University of Victoria, and a Micro-Credential in Employee Communications from Western University. Marika is a member of the Canadia Public Relations Society, the International Association of Business Communicators and the Human Resources Professionals Association. She is an active community volunteer who currently sits on the Board of Directors at the Sexual Assault Survivors Centre Sarnia-Lambton where she serves as PR Chair and on the Board of Directors at Community Legal Assistance Sarnia.
When she’s not busy running her business and crafting communications strategies, Marika is a busy mom of two boys and a wife to Dave, their dog Hank and three cats. Marika is an avid backyard photographer and enjoys searching the beaches of Lake Huron for beach glass.

Operations Manager; Research & Marketing LeadSamantha is an experienced marketing professional with an extensive background in Research, Marketing, Communications, and Business Development. Samantha earned a Business Administration Diploma from Lambton College and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Marketing from Nipissing University. Samantha’s previous experience includes workforce research, academic research, and supporting research for projects that advance social service outcomes. Samantha also has extensive knowledge of marketing concepts, conducting market research, developing integrated marketing communications strategies, leading marketing campaigns, and content design. She has an eye for creative design and has designed numerous campaigns, including Mindful Message Co.’s print materials.
Samantha is an Indigenous woman and advocate with a passion for social and environmental initiatives who actively volunteers with local and international organizations to support youth empowerment, mental health advocacy, environmental sustainability, and wildlife conservation. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of Sarnia-Lambton Rebound, Famous 5 Sarnia-Lambton and is a member of Kiwanis Petrolia.
During her spare time, Samantha can be found taking her pup on adventures, playing video games, and reading books for an unhealthy amount of time.

Communications Associate
Kendra has a passion for communication and connecting with others. Her previous experience includes communications, research, sales, and marketing, and she earned a Business Marketing Diploma at Fanshawe College. Kendra enjoys learning from the diverse perspectives of others and implementing these into her practice. She is eager to take on new opportunities and enjoys the variety of clients she can support at Mindful Message Co.
Kendra is an advocate for local ecosystems and enjoys working within the community toward environmental and wildlife conservation. Kendra also enjoys participating in local food drives and supporting local initiatives when she can.
In Kendra’s spare time, she can be found hanging out with friends, blasting music through her headphones, and walking through local nature trails.

Brand Photography Partner
Cassidy is a sought-after lifestyle & brand photographer and influencer, whose values align perfectly with ours at Mindful Message Co. and we are so happy to have her as our dedicated photography partner. Cassidy has photographed brands such as Lake Life Studio, Wick + Bear, River Run Brewing Co. and modelled and photographed for Pokoloko, Lofttan, and Octopied Mind, to name a few. Cassidy’s experience with branding on both sides of the lens gives her unique insight into showcasing a brand through imagery. Her style is authentic, ensuring her subject is featured instead of the image edit. Cassidy has a special gift for empowering confidence in her subjects and evoking their personality in their bio images, connecting them with their audience in a meaningful way.
When she’s not photographing people and products (or the odd wedding here and there), you can find her, often on the beach, camera in hand, with her two boys.

Graphic Design Partner
Colleen is Mindful Message Co.’s graphic design partner. Colleen is an experienced graphic designer and artist who graduated from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College with a B.A. in Art and Art History and has worked in the creative design field since 2005. She has extensive experience working with brands at all stages of the creative process to bring their brand vision to life. Colleen possesses a special talent for developing logos and creative designs that are representative of a brand’s mission, vision and values which makes her a perfect fit for the style of branding we do at Mindful Message Co.
When Colleen isn’t busy working on creative brand designs she spends her time on her own business Draft Eleven, where she designs and sells customizable, printable party invitations and decor. Colleen is also a wife and mom to three gorgeous kids.

Office Mascot; Employee of all the months
Hank represents the Mindful Message Co. brand by showing up to all our meetings, whether we want him there or not. He keeps our office light when we're dealing with heavy topics and reminds us to laugh, usually at his loud snoring.
